I
am a
medical
transcriptionist,
currently
Director of Transcription Services for
PMSI.
Medical transcription is a fascinating vocation, and I can honestly say that I learn
something new every day. Thanks to digital technology, I have
clients across the country and yet maintain my office from the comforts
of home. I am a Southern country girl, originally from a very rural area in central Louisiana. Growing up, I recall our church having an outhouse in the early 60's, and the phone company only made it to our house when I was in high school in the late 70's. Nowadays, home for me is the scenic foothills of southern Tennessee, nestled in a tiny, private holler. For non-Southerners, a "holler" is a deep valley scoured by ancient rivers; the low spot in a mountain range. The term is, of course, a phonetic spelling of the Appalachian pronunciation of “hollow.” For example, a community in Tennessee might identify itself as a holler, after the surrounding geography. My own holler is full of deer, turkey, and beautiful views--a tranquil, pastoral delight. At any given time, I am owned by as many feline "kids" as I can responsibly love and nurture. They are my babies and my family. Cats love their humans no matter what. Wherever I am, in the house or the woods, my cats are always nearby--snuggling, dozing, playing--quietly keeping me company in their own unobtrusive but companionable way. As far as lifestyle and personality, what you see is what you get. I value honesty and integrity, as well as kindness and humor. I feel very comfortable with where I am and what I am at this stage in life. Simple pleasures make me very happy, and life is good. Interests... I get a lot of joy from gardening/landscaping and photography. I also like to explore the local scenic hills on my 4-wheeler. Life for me would hold no joy without books, music, and my feline kids. I also have several collecting hobbies. I try to be a good steward of my land and practice conservation techniques, and I have a deep, abiding respect and love for animals. Besides my absolute favorite hobby of collecting business cards and Victorian trade cards, I collect literally dozens of other items. Visit "Suzykat's Collections" and you'll see what an inveterate pack rat I am.
