I am a medical transcriptionist and manage my own transcription service.  This is a fascinating vocation, and I can honestly say that I learn something new every day.  Thanks to digital technology, I have clients across the country and yet maintain my office in the comforts of home.

Jay is a structural
ironworker/rigger and loves "hanging iron." During his career, he has worked on large projects around the country--steel mills, power plants, oil refineries, and anywhere there is big iron--in places as diverse as Houston, Texas; Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania; and Red Dog Mine, Alaska (100 miles north of the Arctic Circle).

We are both countrified to the core, originally from a very rural area in central Louisiana.  Growing up, I recall our church having an outhouse in the early 60's, and the phone company finally made it to our house when I was in high school in the late 70's.

In 1987, I became reacquainted with the son of a life-long neighbor
, and Jay and I married in 1993.  In 1997, we moved to Decatur, Alabama, for what was supposedly a 3-month ironworking job.  We grew fond of the northern Alabama area, and I started my transcription service.  In 2005, we realized our dream of owning land and a home in the scenic foothills of southern Tennessee.  We are
back in the country and our hearts sing to be rocking on a porch again, enjoying such scenic beauty.

At any given time, we are owned by as many feline "kids" as we can responsibly love and nurture.  They are Daddy's babies, and when he's working away from home, their pictures go with him.

Interests...

We enjoy "the mountains," collecting and hunting Indian artifacts, and antiques.  We also love music of virtually all genres.  We try to be good stewards of our land and practice conservation techniques, and we both have a deep, abiding respect and love for animals.

Besides my absolute favorite hobby of
business card collecting, I collect literally dozens of other items.  Jay says I need a museum instead of a house--well, actually, he says I need a junkyard!  Visit "Suzykat's Collections" and discover what an inveterate pack rat I am.

Jay collects tavern puzzles, antique marbles,
ironworker memorabilia, and antique tools.  Our favorite pastimes together are hunting arrowheads and enjoying the local wildlife, and we do love a good flea market!

Y'all come back now, ya hear?
